August 2022

• August 11 → Mrs. Dufner Meet & Greet | 5-6:30pm  
  Meet on the playground, enjoy some popsicles from the PTO, and hear from Mrs Dufner.

• August 15 → McPolin Open House | 2:30-3:30pm
  Check out your classrooms and greet your teachers.  This is also your chance to sign up to be a room parent to support our educators & PTO, spy on your kid, and be involved in your classroom!

• August 17 → FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL (K-5)!
  Can I get a woop woop!!

• August 19 → Newcomer Parent Coffee | 8:30am

• August 24 → Back to School Night | 5:30-6:30pm
  First, a few minutes of presentations in the cafeteria and then it's off to your classrooms to hear from your teachers. Plus, a number of community partners and neighbors will be there to share information about activities and ways to participate in our wonderful Park City community.

• August 24 → PCEF Educator and Student Wellness Speaker Event | 7-8pm
  "Are the Kids Alright" @ Jim Santy Auditorium | Park City Library FREE Event!

• August 26 → Bike to School & Flag Ceremony | 8:40am  
  Meet-up points are designated throughout McPolin neighborhoods. Police escort bikers to school, and then everyone gets to have bagels and coffee before the Flag Ceremony.

• August 26 → Rollin' at McPolin
  Every Friday, as weather permits......bike, scooter, skateboard, rollerblade, one-wheel...to school on Fridaysf

• August 30 → Room Parent After School Meet Up
  This quick info-session for Room Parents happens directly after school on the playground. You can sign up to be a room parent at Open House and Back to School.  You'll learn a bt about best ways to support your classroom as that critical PTO link. Didn't sign up but want to be involved? We'd love to have you join us!
  New to McPollcome! We can't wait to meet you!
  Come to the cafeteria immediately following drop off. Enjoy a cup of coffee, a pastry or two, and meet other new families & PTO members.
  
  

September 2022

• September 5 →Labor Day | NO SCHOOL

• September 6 → First PTO meeting (first Tuesday of every month!) 8:15am
  EVERYONE is welcome to meetings! You can get involved, sign up for an event, or sit back and listen to some of the amazing ways we support McPolin.

• September 13  → Cafe on Amigos/Coffee with Friends (second Tuesday of every month!) | 8:15-9am
  Share a warm cup of joe with fellow McPolin parents. This is a great way to create community and brush up on your Spanish/English conversational skills.

• September 16  → LAST DAY to "Beat the Call" (BTC) & help MPES win $$$

Park City Education Foundation's fall fundraiser, Give $180 to Beat the Call, asks each family to contribute $1 dollar per day per school year ($180). 

Oh yes, and -- the classes with the highest participation rate in BTC win a PIZZA PARTY!

Join us for an evening of community resources. Free dinner and childcare will be provided.

• September 29 →Fall Picture Day 

• September 30 → Fall Festival/Silent Auction | 4-7pm
  They are BACK - and you don't want to miss them!

After two years on hiatus, The Fall Festival & Silent Auction, our BIGGEST FUNDRAISERS to support McPolin students of the year, are scheduled to return. Join us for outdoor games, activities (including dunk the staff and dunk the fifth graders!), and yummy treats. And a virtual nail-biting Silent Auction full of amazing community donations. 

October 2022

• October 3-14 →Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences

Sign up to bring in a yummy home cooked meal or volunteer to pick up preordered goodies from a local Park City eating establishment.  

Our teachers spend countless hours with our students! Help us provide some meals during these weeks of Parent-Teacher conferences!

• October 11  → Cafe con Amigos/Coffee with Friends

• October 13-14 →Fall Break | NO SCHOOL

• October 26 →Community Enrichment Night | 5:30pm

"Boosters and Burritos". In collaboration with community partners, the Peoples Health Clinic and Summit County Department of Health we will be offering COVID boosters and Influenza vaccines. 

Join us for an evening of community resources. Free dinner and childcare will be provided.

• October 31 → Halloween Parade @1PM
  A day FULL of FUN!! Students and staff dress up and enjoy a spooky day full of parties, candy, parade and showing off their costumes. Please volunteer in your classrooms for activities, games, snacks. Join in the playground as the students parade around in their amazing garb! You can dress up, too!

November 2022

• November 4 → Live PC/Give PC

A community event: 24 hours of extreme generosity! This day of giving has raised millions of dollars for local nonprofits over the past 12 years. Show your love for our community and our school.

This year, we will raise money to fund structured resources for outdoor/physical activity! We will replenish the gym equipment and make sure our McPolin students have the tools to be active and healthy.

November 11 → Veterans Day Assembly | 8:30 a.m. 

• November 18  → Rollin' at McPolin (CANCELLED due to weather)  

• November 23-25 → Thanksgiving Recess | NO SCHOOL 

• November 29 → Community Enrichment Night | 5:30pm
  Join us for an evening of community resources, including free flu vaccines + COVID boosters! Free dinner and childcare will be provided.

December 2022

• December 5  → Park City Education Foundation's Educator and Student Wellness Speaker Event  | 7 PM @ Blair Education Center (PC Hospital)

Dr. Jason Rafferty will present "Tripping through Adolescent Substance Abuse and Experimentation: What Parents Need to Know," on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 7 p.m.

• December 5-16 → Holiday Giving Tree
  Our teachers and staff make requests for their classrooms on a small tree in the McPolin entrance. Pull an ornament off the tree, fulfill the wish, and your student gets to offer a holiday gift to his/her teacher! Look for our amazing volunteer dancing around holiday-style encouraging donations for this feel-good activity. 

• December 5-16 → McPolin Family Tree -- "Giving Moose"
  A beautiful anonymous way to give back to our very own McPolin families who are in a bit of extra need. To support our community through the Giving Moose, please connect with our outreach coordinator. We can make a difference this holiday season!

March 2023

• March 2 → Read Across McPolin Day
  Sign up to read a book in English or Spanish to your student's classroom. Feel free to dress up as your favorite Dr. Seuss character. A super fun way to be involved!

• March 6-10 → Book Fair 

• March 6-17 →Reading BINGO and Reading Challenge

Two weeks of reading fun. Students will receive BINGO cards to spark creativity while absorbing a variety of ways to have fun reading.

Also back this year, a Reading Challenge: add up all your reading for the week...at the end of two weeks we will see which classroom has the most reading minutes and they will win a prize!

• March 17 → In person school day. This is a make-up for our snow day in January 

April 2023

• April 20 → Kindergarten Orientation

• April 26 → Science Night | 5-7pm
  Science standards continue to shift - and McPolin's science fair is, too! This night of science will feature exhibitions to highlight and celebrate classroom learning. Parents - if you have connections to science-related fields or companies, please reach out!
